Tudor / Elizabethan 'Spread Eagle' Token
Copper-alloy, 3.10 grams, 20.16 mm. An Elizabethan (1558 - 1603 AD) token showing on the obverse the five-pointed rose with crown above flanked by the lteers 'E' and 'R'. Beginning at the crown is the text 'GOD SAVE THE QVENE' within a billeted border. On the reverse is a splayed, double-headed eagle within a billeted border. Nearly extremely fine condition. Provenance: from the Thames foreshore at Greenwich, reported to the Museum of London.
