Tudor ‘Incuse’ Trade Weight
Lead, 70 grams, 32.30 mm dia. 16th century AD. A discoid weight of about 8mm thickness. The upper surface is marked with a stamp showing 'II', the Roman numeral for 'two'. These Tudor-period weights were in use in the 16th century, but are close in form to some Romano-British examples (e.g. the finds from Chester excavated in the 19th century). Provenance: found Co Durham, England.
