Tudor 'Openwork' Wrist Clasp
Silver, 2.86 grams, 22.76 mm. 16th century AD. A cast plate comprising an expanding rectangular forward edge with a central square slot. On the rear edge is a bar from which three roundels develop, with beaded outer edges. On the reverse are the remains of two attachment pins. Reference: cf. cast openwork eyes in Read, B. Hooked-Clasps and Eyes, Langport, 2008 p.108, 207. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the late 1980's/early 1990's.
