Rare Series Q/R Type 73 'Quadruped' Sceatta
Silver, 0.84 grams; 13.09 mm. Circa 710-760 AD. Obverse: Radiate bust right with large square nose and blundered legend in front. Reverse: Sketchy stylized four legged beast walking right with three ended pelleted tail and beak type mouth. Recorded with the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University as: EMC 2008.0417. Listed as extremely rare. Ref: Thrymsas and Sceattas in the Ashmolean Museum Oxford by D.M. Metcalf; page 498 volume 3. M 388; S 832b. A rare coin in extremely fine condition. Found Cambridgeshire.
