Victorian Period 'Head of Zulu' Toy Finial
Lead, 24.44 grams, 27.30 mm. Circa late 19th century AD. A cast bifacial mount in the form of a grimacing male face with short hair, a heavy furrowed brow, c-shaped ears, rounded nose and inflated cheeks which extend on both sides of a rectangular slot. The piece is pierced longitudinally with a quadrangular slot. Reference: cf. decorative pommels in Duprat, M Les jouets C.R, invention et fantaisie 1998, éditions Massin, page 201, also Détection Passion n° 52, mai-juin 2004. CR mark for Charles Rossignol. Very fine condition. Provenance: found Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England.
