Victorian 'Reversible' Nutcracker
Iron, 190 grams, 140.24 mm. Circa mid 19th century AD. A cast iron nutcracker comprising two round-section handles with bulb insets and transverse ribbed terminals rising to flat rectangular plates, their surfaces keyed to grip the shell, attached to a pivot plate with a wider and a narrower central bar, allowing various sizes of nut to be opened. Very fine condition, complete and usable. Provenance: found near Wigan, Lancashire, England.
