Vietnamese Medieval 'Hoi An Hoard' Decorated Bowl
Ceramic, 500 grams, 5 cm high x 22 cm wide. Circa mid 15th century AD. A large shallow bowl, plain to the outside, inside the bowl has circular bands and the centre bears a bold petal design with a written character. Reference: excavated by Malaysian-Chinese businessman Ong Soo Hin and Oxford University archaeologist Mensun Bound, working with Vietnam's National History Museum. The project took four years and cost an estimated $14 million, on the base a 'Hoi An Hoard' authentication label recorded with identification number 158713. Provenance: from the shipwreck of the 'Hoi An' in 1966. Very fine condition.
