Rare Viking Baltic 'Birds of Prey' Bracelet
Copper-alloy, 26.38 grams, 62.52 mm. 8th-10th century AD. A flat-section band with panels of decoration cast and chip-carved into the outer face. The square panels display a saltire with four birds of prey in profile, their heads converging on the centre. The longer panels are heavily ribbed wiith crescent detailing on the upper and lower margins. Bracelets of this form are associated with the eastern Baltic Selonians in the Viking period.
