Viking ‘Carinated Coil’ Finger Ring
Copper-alloy, 5.11 grams, 22.86 mm. Internal 16.89 mm [UK size M 1/2, US size 6 1/2, Europe size 13.09]. 9th-10th century AD. A standard form of Viking Period coiled finger ring from the eastern Baltic. The ring is made from a single D-section carinated rod thinner on the lower section behind the finger, thickening on the upper sections and forming a shallow point at each end.
