Viking 'Faux Twist' Gilt Finger Ring
Gilt copper-alloy, 8.93 grams, 29.12 mm ext.dia. 19.38 int.dia. (British size S½, European 20.98, USA 9½). 9th-11th century AD. A substantial finger ring of Viking or Anglo-Scandinavian type comprising an expanding cast band with modelled spiral detailing, imitating the classic form of expanding twisted wire rings from Scandinavia.
