Extremely RareViking ‘Inlaid Hemisphere’ Gaming Piece
Copper alloy, 17.73 mm; 6.05 grams. Circa 8th - 10th century. A copper-alloy disc with a domed top, inlaid with four circular settings, three with the original bone infill. This piece - a variant of the 'turretted' form - would have been used as a hnefi or king-piece in the board-game hnefatafl. Reference: Pollington, S.
