Rare Viking 'Opposed Spirals' Finger Ring
Copper-alloy, 3.85 grams, 23.98 mm. Internal 21.11 mm, UK size X; US size 12. Circa 10th century AD. A rare type of finger ring with a single-band shank dividing in two at each end, and the ends forming two pairs of tight opposed spirals. Reference: Lehtosalo-Hilander, P-L.,Luistari (Finland), A History of Weapons and Ornaments, grave 1043; plate 50. Extremely fine condition. Ex old European collection.
